About

For the longest time Anna and Sonja dreamed of creating a special place that captured the essence of family and community: food, love and laughter.  When Rob brought us together, we realized that we shared a vision.  We talked.  We scouted for venues.  When we walked into 5718 Park Avenue, the long abandoned site of Benny’s Deli, we knew this was the place.

Looking back at the photos now, the project was tremendous! Renovating the space was a lot of work. But it’s been completely and totally worth it.

The name “EM” stands for End of the Mile or Mile End spelled backwards. It also symbolizes the “M” of Montreal and the French word for love, aime.

Young or old, artist or professional, all have something in common at EM.  Our space is designed to reflect the diversity of our community: modern and traditional, elegant and rustic, comfortable and inviting.  Students and professionals enjoy our free wi-fi.  Families find high chairs, books and toys, and a changing station.  Local artists and photographers show and sell their art.  We host a variety of events that are as diverse as our neighbourhood, and even offer our space as a location for press interviews, films and local commercials.  We collaborate with and support other businesses on Park Avenue.

Our food is healthy, international and reasonably priced.  Our soups, home-made bread and desserts are made from scratch.  There are always vegetarian options and we’re pretty fanatic about the quality of our coffee.

We are also committed to reducing our impact on the planet.  We buy local and organic as much as possible (which also means our meat, fish and produce are always fresh). And, unlike most other restaurants, we practice the 3 Rs, even though it costs time and money.

We’re committed to nurturing our vibrant and colourful community.  Come and see for yourself!
